Staffing Update
We are all so happy for Rachel, Trevor and Kris and their assignments for 2017-18.

More big news, we would like to welcome our new bee, Jayme Pallante! Jayme is a former Brownsville student teacher and currently teaching special education. She is also the parent of our little bees, Lily and Ty.

Email her at jpallante@k12albemarle.org for a shout out!

Mathematicians
A couple of questions are leading to our Math Vertical Team meeting on Thursday May 4:

Is it particularly important for students to learn math with an effective systematic approach? Does Investigations as core instruction provide that?

Below is a draft of the questions that will drive our discussion.
As an exercise, we will map out a 1 year implementation plan, as the 1st of a 3 year study.

Why a common practice in math?
Why Investigations?
How does a school use Investigations to invest and build on quality teaching already in place?
How much time does it take?
What type of plc work is involved in doing this well?
What is the definition of, supplementing?
What is a safe percentage of supplementing?  Does it depend on grade level?
What are the results in our division? What are the results in our feeder pattern?
What are challenges teachers encounter? How do teachers overcome them?
What is the best 1 year plan to fully implement invest k-5 in a 3 year study?

SIP Data
Teachers, Bee on the lookout for a google form that we need you to fill out in order to collect SIP data. Please complete it by this Tuesday morning.
