M I 3 Update
The implementation plan has been going well. Many of your team members attended the division investigations training and have been working on mapping and alignment for the year.
The online product REALIZE is available to each teacher. Check with your vertical team member about access and set up.

Manipulative order
We have ordered almost everything that was submitted by teams. Nancy will follow up with teams about small specific items.

Student Activity Books
We have one paperback Student Activity book for each teacher to include as a part of each MI3 Kit. Do not mark or pages. The MI3 Vertical Team will look at strategic methods to limit the resources necessary for using these books. All kits early on will be barcoded and checked out to teachers. If you need a kit they are in Jason’s office and you need to let Nancy know you have taken it.

Use of Illuminate for Assessments
The division will load Investigations assessments into Illuminate at some point soon. We will keep an eye on it and let you know as soon as we know.

Shannon Grant Winner
Congrats to Mr. Brian Squires, 1st Grade, for receiving this award for his interactive learning posters. I was able to see these in action last year and it is a great way for students to integrate technology into what is normally a basic presentation strategy. Brian, thank you for representing Brownsville and we can’t wait to see more of your work in action.

Bee Class Teachers Needed
If you are interested in teaching a BEE Class let Ms. Homan know. In particular, they are looking for: Softball and Cupcake Decorating

UVA Practicum Students
If you are interested in a UVA practicum placement, not intern, complete this form for consideration.
Our practicum students typically report for 2-3 hours each week.
Mentor Teachers should:
·         Have at least two years of teaching experience, but three years/ continuing contract status is preferred;
·         Be strong teachers, not those who would benefit from an extra pair of hands;
·         Hold PROFESSIONAL *not provisional* license.
During the fall semester, practicum students primarily observe and assist, teaching only a couple of lessons. In the spring, we supervise them as they teach/ co-teach 4-6 lessons.
Practicum placements will begin around September 5th, ending by December 8th. I will send you and your central office a list of all students placed in your school before they report, along with their contact information and their course instructor’s contact information.

Open Enrollment
Open Enrollment is available NOW through August 18th.  Open Enrollment is the ONE time each year where you can enroll in or make any/all changes you wish to your current medical/dental plan elections, as well as enroll in a new Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for next year. Remember: you have to enroll annually in an FSA if you want to participate! Any changes you make during Open Enrollment will not go into effect until the start of the new plan year (September 1st for the FSA and October 1st for medical/dental).
ALL benefits-eligible employees SHOULD access their Open Enrollment site ANNUALLY Why?...
·        It helps us ensure the accuracy of your information for tax reporting purposes
·        It gives you the opportunity to review your current plan elections and make changes if needed
·        It gives you the opportunity to review your dependent coverage and make corrections if needed
